Automatic Train Protection System (स्वचालित ट्रेन सुरक्षा प्रणाली)

Indian Railway is planning to implement an Automatic Train Protection system on its entire 68000 KM of Broad Gauge (BG) route in a planned and phased manner. As per officials, this system will play a pivotal role in speeding and signalling for train safety in the coming future. 

What is Automated Train Protection?

The automatic Train Protection (ATP) System is a system that controls the movements of Trains and plays a critical role in Train Safety. In this system signaller or automatic system is responsible for setting non-conflicting and safe routes for trains. 

There are two principles behind this system Train detection, Train protection system and movement authority. Train protection system uses 3 parts to safeguard operations.  

• Signalling
• Automatic Train Protection and 
• Traffic Management

This system requires high-speed internet to function. As recently Indian railway has got 4G spectrum approved by Cabinet recently. Which will help Indian Railway to adopt more and more technology to make it more safe, smooth and faster in the coming future. 

What is the need for this System?

In response to reducing the continuing train accidents because of  Loco Pilots negligence about signal instruction, overspeeding, ignoring signals. Indian Railway has started to implement ATP (Automated Train Protection) on the entire BG railway network. This system will help to alert loco pilots about overspeeding, Signal passing at danger integrated with the locomotive. So manual error can be stopped

Currently below is the details about ATP implementation in Indian Railway. Which has been implemented in some parts

• 200 KM in Delhi-Agra Section
• 117 KM in the urban section
• 25 KM in Kolkata Metro 
• 240 KM in Mumbai suburban section 
• 124 KM in Western Railway Section
• 250 KM is under trial in Southern Section
• The same system is used in DFC
• The Similar System is used in Delhi Metro also

स्वचालित ट्रेन सुरक्षा क्या है?

स्वचालित ट्रेन सुरक्षा (एटीपी) प्रणाली एक ऐसी प्रणाली है जो ट्रेनों की आवाजाही को नियंत्रित करती है और ट्रेन सुरक्षा में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है। इस प्रणाली में ट्रेनों के लिए गैर-संघर्षपूर्ण और सुरक्षित मार्ग निर्धारित करने के लिए सिग्नलर या स्वचालित प्रणाली जिम्मेदार है।

इस सिस्टम के पीछे दो सिद्धांत हैं ट्रेन डिटेक्शन, ट्रेन प्रोटेक्शन सिस्टम और मूवमेंट अथॉरिटी। ट्रेन सुरक्षा प्रणाली संचालन की सुरक्षा के लिए 3 भागों का उपयोग करती है।

• सिग्नलिंग
• स्वचालित ट्रेन सुरक्षा और
• यातायात प्रबंधन

इस सिस्टम को काम करने के लिए हाई स्पीड इंटरनेट की जरूरत होती है। जैसा कि हाल ही में भारतीय रेलवे को हाल ही में कैबिनेट द्वारा 4G स्पेक्ट्रम को मंजूरी मिली है। जो भारतीय रेलवे को आने वाले भविष्य में इसे और अधिक सुरक्षित, सुचारू और तेज बनाने के लिए अधिक से अधिक तकनीक अपनाने में मदद करेगा।

इस प्रणाली की क्या आवश्यकता है?

लोको पायलटों द्वारा सिगनल निर्देश में लापरवाही, ओवरस्पीडिंग, सिगनल की अनदेखी के कारण लगातार हो रही रेल दुर्घटनाओं को कम करने के जवाब में। भारतीय रेलवे ने पूरे बीजी रेलवे नेटवर्क पर एटीपी (ऑटोमेटेड ट्रेन प्रोटेक्शन) लागू करना शुरू कर दिया है। यह प्रणाली लोको पायलटों को ओवरस्पीडिंग के बारे में सचेत करने में मदद करेगी, खतरे में सिग्नल को लोकोमोटिव के साथ एकीकृत किया जाएगा। तो मैन्युअल त्रुटि को रोका जा सकता है

वर्तमान में भारतीय रेलवे में स्वचालित ट्रेन सुरक्षा प्रणाली कार्यान्वयन के बारे में विवरण नीचे दिया गया है | जो की कुछ हिस्सों में लागू किया गया है

• दिल्ली-आगरा सेक्शन में 200 किमी
• शहरी खंड में 117 किमी
• कोलकाता मेट्रो में 25 किमी
• मुंबई उपनगरीय खंड में 240 किमी
• पश्चिम रेलवे खंड में 124 किमी K
• 250 KM का दक्षिणी खंड में परीक्षण चल रहा है
• डीएफसी में एक ही प्रणाली का उपयोग किया जाता है
• दिल्ली मेट्रो में भी इसी तरह की प्रणाली का उपयोग किया जाता है
