Indian Railway is planning to implement an Automatic Train Protection system on its entire 68000 KM of Broad Gauge (BG) route in a planned and phased manner. As per officials, this system will play a pivotal role in speeding and signalling for train safety in the coming future. What is Automated Train Protection? The automatic Train Protection (ATP) System is a system that controls the movements of Trains and plays a critical role in Train Safety. In this system signaller or automatic system is responsible for setting non-conflicting and safe routes for trains. There are two principles behind this system Train detection, Train protection system and movement authority. Train protection system uses 3 parts to safeguard operations. Signalling Automatic Train Protection and Traffic Management This system requires high-speed internet to function. As recently Indian railway has got 4G spectrum approved by Cabinet recently. Which will help Indian Railway to adopt more and more technology
