TDS literally means completely dissolved cold substance, that is, a matter which dissolves in water. नाग पंचमी हिंदू धर्म का एक बड़ा त्योहार है। यह त्योहार श्रावण मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को मनाया जाता है। अँग्रेज़ी महीने के हिसाब से यह जुलाई मध्य या अगस्त प्रथम साप्ताह में आता है। इस दिन भगवान शंकर और नाग/ साँप देवता की पूजा की जाती है और उन्हे दूध से नहलाया जाता है ताकि उनके परिवारों को सांपों के खतरे से मुक्ति मिल सके। कहीं-कहीं उन्हे दूध पिलाया भी जाता है। हिंदू ग्रंथों में इस दिन का बहुत बड़ा महत्व माना गया है इस दिन आठ नाग या अष्टनाग की पूजा की जाती है । ये आठ नाग या अष्टनाग निम्न है वासुकी, कालिया, तक्षक, ऐरावत, धृतराष्ट्र, मनिभद्रक, धनंजय और कार्कोटक। यह त्योहार भारत, नेपाल और जहाँ हिंदू धर्म के अनुयायी रहते है वहाँ मनाया जाता है।  इस दिन भगवान शिवऔर सांपों की पूजा दूध, मिठाई, फूल, दीपक और कहीं-कहीं बलि के साथ की जाती है। चांदी, पत्थर, लकड़ी या चित्रों से बने नाग या नाग देवता को पहले पानी और दूध से नहलाया जाता है। फिर उनकी पूजा की जाती है। इस दिन उपवास भी रखा जाता है और ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया जाता है। इस दिन कई स्थानों ...
